Children of Uganda held a character transformation, counseling and guidance session / workshop at Kamuli C/U primary School in August 2016, benefitting over 500 students in upper primary.
The theme of the training was “discipline in and out of the school environment” and the topics discussed ranged from indicators of discipline in the school and why we need discipline in the school, among others. The students actively participated in the sessions. They had illuminating answers to most of the questions asked by the facilitators whenever any arose.
The interaction between the participants and facilitators as well as the descriptive images and life stories shared by the facilitators Counselor Muwawu and Simon Edube of Cornerstone Development Africa created abundant humor, making the session an active and a lively one.
Our goal was to bring about academic excellence and child empowerment through character transformation. From a brief interaction with the students after the workshop, we can proudly say that the two hours students spent with the facilitators strongly and positively impacted them.

A similar session was held with children at Sabina Primary School in Rakai district. Sabina School children had activities that ran for two days. On the first day, facilitators handled topics such as: Developing a vision and a sense of purpose in life, vision, character and academic excellence, leadership, and the habits of highly effective people.
On the last day, the children were engaged in a community service where they learnt the importance and relevance of giving back to their communities.
