Across two continents, we work together to make sure that Children of Uganda's students are safe, fed and happily learning. We champion brighter futures for Uganda's most vulnerable young people, women and their families. Here are all the folks who put your giving into action:
Pamela has dedicated her life’s work to serving the AIDS community and advocating on behalf of the world’s most vulnerable children. After participating in the country’s first ever AIDS radio-thon, she changed her career course and began working with prominent AIDS service organizations — most notably, AIDS Project Los Angeles and Project Angel Food. While at Project Angel Food, she was introduced to the Children of Uganda dance troupe. Soon after, she traveled to Uganda and worked with children who had lost their parents to AIDS. She was inspired by the children’s genuine joy for life and returned to the US with a newfound passion to support Uganda’s orphans. She ultimately joined the Children of Uganda Board of Directors where she served until she transitioned to her current role of Executive Director. Pamela’s vision for COU’s future includes the construction of an academic and healing arts academy where children would benefit from a holistic approach to their educational future and overall well-being.
Nicole joined Children of Uganda’s team in October of 2009 as Administrative Assistant for the Charles Town, WV office and was promoted in 2011 to the position of U.S. Sponsorship Coordinator. She is now working as Communications Consultant. Her strengths are in writing, editing and design. Nicole is a graduate of Hood College with a BA in English and a minor in Religion. She currently lives with her husband, Michael, in Frederick, MD.
Rebecca joined our team on August 29, 2016 as Administrative Assistant in our Charles Town, WV office. Rebecca has several years’ experience as an Administrative Assistant, most recently spending 11 years with an international travel company. Rebecca, her husband and two daughters live in Harpers Ferry, WV. In her spare time, Rebecca enjoys reading, scrapbooking and crafting.
Ritah joined Children of Uganda in July 2009 as a Finance Officer, then assumed the role of Finance & Administration Officer in January 2015. In November 2016, Ritah became Program Director. With over 10 years’ experience and a track record of prudent management, Ritah has witnessed tremendous developments since joining Children of Uganda. Her greatest passion is to share her perceived value with the world, bring hope to those who seem hopeless and make them appreciate the fact that they are of great value to the world around them. Her own childhood in Uganda — raised by a single mother of six children who made great sacrifices to keep her children in school — has given her a direct understanding of the struggles of Children of Uganda’s students and allowed her to know for a fact that change begins with our minds.
Ritah has a bachelor degree in Business Administration from Makerere University, specializing in Financial services, as well as an MBA specializing in Project Management. Before Children of Uganda, Ritah worked for two financial institutions and then the Nigeria High Commission where she worked for two years.
We help you give a hand UP to Ugandan children and women in need + share the joy.
Each child who is educated, fed and safe is a strong foundation for peace.
Each self-supporting woman makes a community thrive. Each beat of music carries the joy of a nation.
