“My motivation always rose from a thought of having a changed life — one where I am able to care for myself and anyone whose life will be my responsibility in future.”
Victoria Zalwango went to Hormisdallen Primary School, Kyebando Primary School and later joined Ssaku S.S.S where she had her advanced level of education. In 2013, she joined Makerere University and graduated in January 2016 with a Bachelor of Industrial and Organizational Psychology.
“With this diploma, I have a stepping stone to achieving my dream of creating change in my country through fighting poverty and vulnerability.”
Victoria says graduating is the best thing that has ever happened to her.
“It’s a dream come true! With this diploma, I have a stepping stone to achieving my dream of creating change in my country through fighting poverty and vulnerability. Vulnerability is the worst thing one can experience; it is associated with lots of sorrows and pain. I felt very lucky to have the chance of education. Despite the tough situation we went through as a family, I focused on my studies and made sure that I worked hard in school to be able to change my family situation in future.”
Victoria’s sincere thanks go to her sponsors, Natali and Linda, Micheal Cesario, and Marcia Sayer who supported her through university.
“It’s a blessing to have someone who doesn’t know you to pick you up and care about you like their own. There are no words I can use to express my heartfelt gratitude, but what I want them to know is that I am so thankful for everything they have done for me” says Victoria.
