Sandra’s History
Sandra lives with her aunt and three cousins when she is not at school. Her aunt used to own a charcoal business, however thieves broke into her store and stole everything that she had in stock. Without the capital to re-open her business, the family relies on selling fruit from avocado and orange trees that grow on their property. Deborah’s parents were HIV positive and bedridden at the time of her recruitment into Children of Uganda. Sadly they died shortly thereafter and her aunt took on guardianship.
Sandra joined Children of Uganda’s program in 2012 and has excelled ever since!
Education Transformation and Progress:
At the time of recruitment, Deborah was struggling academically. She could not construct a sentence in English nor spell words, but she was engaged in tutoring and has gradually improved. Her academic performance is now above average and she has promising grades. She is currently in her final year of vocational school pursuing a certificate in fashion and design from Vision for Africa.
