Vivian’s History
Vivian lives with her mother and father in Kisaasi, Kampala district. Vivian is the youngest of five. Her eldest sister dropped out of school in P.7 and now works as a maid. The rest of her siblings were sent back to the village to live with their grandparents because her father could no longer afford to care for them in the city. Her father was a security guard and also operated a motorcycle taxi as a business. However, he was involved in an accident that left him bedridden for almost a year and his doctors advised him to avoid riding the motorcycle or doing any heavy activities. As a result her father is no longer able to provide any support to his family whatsoever. Her mother works tirelessly to support the family. She will gladly take on any casual work that comes her way. COU recognized her work ethic and selected her to join the Family Empowerment Program and set her up with a charcoal business. She is now on the path to self-sufficiency.
About Vivian
Vivian was enrolled for COU sponsorship in 2014. When she joined our program she was shy and quiet but has transformed into an outgoing, lovely and well-rounded girl. She enjoys studying, writing and always strives to be at the top of her class. She also likes netball and is quite athletic. She had her sights set on becoming a teacher but has recently shifted her interest to the medical field. With her determination and smarts, we are confident she will achieve whatever she sets her sights on!
Vivian hopes to become a doctor one day!!
