Pamela Brannon

Executive Director

“The privilege of my lifetime is the love and service I have been able to share with our children and their families. I am enormously grateful that we are committing our work to social justice and eradicating poverty one family at a time. I am deeply grateful to partner with the community we serve in Uganda and witness lives being transformed daily through small investments and education.”

Pamela has dedicated her life’s work to serving the AIDS community and advocating on behalf of the world’s most vulnerable children. After participating in the country’s first ever AIDS radio-thon, she changed her career course and began working with prominent AIDS service organizations — most notably, AIDS Project Los Angeles and Project Angel Food. While at Project Angel Food, she was introduced to the Children of Uganda dance troupe. Soon after, she traveled to Uganda and worked with children who had lost their parents to AIDS. She was inspired by the children’s genuine joy for life and returned to the US with a newfound passion to support Uganda’s orphans. She ultimately joined the Children of Uganda Board of Directors where she served until transitioning to her current role of Executive Director. Pamela’s vision for COU’s future includes the construction of an academic and healing arts academy where children would benefit from a holistic approach to their educational future and overall well-being.

“It is a great honor and privilege for me to bring the inspirational life stories of women and children in Uganda out from the shadows and into the light – to help spark awareness and positive change in the world.”

Nicole joined Children of Uganda’s team in October of 2009 as Administrative Assistant for the Charles Town, WV office and later held the position of U.S. Sponsorship Coordinator. She managed office operations and assisted with marketing for both the 2012 and 2014 Tour of Light. The opportunity to meet students on the dance troupe, to witness their incredible talent and to learn more about their ambitions for the future was profoundly life-changing. Her genuine passion is story-telling. And now, as Communications Manager, she is immensely grateful for the opportunity to tell inspirational, authentic and impactful stories of the women and children COU is honored to know and support. Nicole is a graduate of Hood College with a BA in English and a minor in Religion. She currently lives with her husband and their young son in Frederick, MD.
