You don’t have to be the next Bill Gates or Oprah Winfrey to create a meaningful philanthropic legacy. In addition to your current contributions to Children of Uganda, have you considered making a planned gift?

Planned giving is a win-win approach to charitable donations that supports your favorite cause and can benefit you now or in the future. Simply put, “planned giving” is the transfer of assets to a nonprofit organization during a lifetime or as part of an estate plan. This forward-thinking approach to giving is “planned” because often assets are not liquid, have tax consequences and are transferred via a will or other written means.

Whether it’s naming Children of Uganda in your will or trust for any amount, or a gift of house and property, there’s an option that’s right for you. It may even involve assets you never considered before – a life insurance policy, stocks, business holdings, savings account, etc.

Anyone considering a planned gift should consult a tax and/or legal advisor for guidance and assistance.

Your will and long-range plans deserve careful attention to ensure that those individuals and organizations that are most meaningful or important to you are remembered in your estate. If your wish is to leave a legacy with Children of Uganda, the following is an example of suggested language to include in your will or living trust: “I give and bequeath to Children of Uganda, a not-for-profit corporation, with principal offices presently located at 112 West Congress Street, Charles Town, WV 25414, the sum of $______, or ____% of my estate, to be used for the accomplishment of its general purpose (or for a specific purpose, as indicated).”

You can help ensure the well-being of future generations and serve as an inspiration for others to do the same. Planned giving from our donors helps to ensure that Children of Uganda will be around years from now to fulfill the ongoing needs of vulnerable populations. Leave a legacy of hope and goodwill in Uganda and you will be remembered.
