We are proud of the fact that our staff on the ground is fully Ugandan, as they are in the best position to understand the needs of our beneficiaries. They are also better equipped to lead the development of culturally responsive and effective interventions to meet those needs.

Ritah joined Children of Uganda in July 2009 as a Finance Officer, then assumed the role of Finance & Administration Officer in January 2015. In November 2016, Ritah became Program Director. With over 10 years of experience and a track record of prudent management, Ritah has witnessed tremendous developments since joining Children of Uganda. Her greatest passion is to share her perceived value with the world, bring hope to those who seem hopeless and help them appreciate the fact that they are of great value to the world. Her own childhood in Uganda — raised by a single mother of six children who made great sacrifices to keep them in school — has given her a personal understanding of the struggles our children face and how to overcome them. Ritah has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Makerere University with a specialty in Financial Services. In 2012, she graduated with her Masters in Project Management and in 2019 furthered her post-graduate studies earning a diploma in Project Planning. Before Children of Uganda, Ritah worked for two financial institutions and then the Nigeria High Commission where she worked for two years.

Daisy is a gender and development expert who is passionate about creating conditions, systems and structures that are non-discriminatory and that work favorably for all women and children. For the past 8 years, Daisy has worked with national, regional and international NGOs committed to achieving gender equality, advancing human rights, as well as empowering women and girls.
Prior to joining Children of Uganda, Daisy worked with Little Light Children’s Center as the Administrator managing their child sponsorship program, as well as forming and designing activities for women and youth groups. She also worked with YouLead Africa as the Country Coordinator (Uganda), were she coordinated and managed all of the in-country youth programs. Daisy holds a degree in Information Technology from Makerere University in Uganda. She has an extensive background in child education, youth and women development plus digital education transformation.
Owen Yoma
Finance & Administration Assistant

Owen is a graduate of Makerere University Business School where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and specialized in accounting. He has previously worked with Uganda National Health Laboratory Services in the health sector as an accounts volunteer. His major roles were reviewing leave forms, accounting data entry and keeping custody of organizational assets. During his two years there, he helped educate and assist individuals living with HIV/AIDS, sickle cell disease and Hepatitis B. Owen joined Children of Uganda on November 3rd, 2020 as our Finance and Administration Assistant. His duties include overall accounting and book keeping functions, custody of organization assets and administration.
Rose Nalwoga
Sponsorship Assistant
“My future prospect is to see all our sponsored children successful, as well as their guardians saving and living sustainable lives.”
Rose has over 8 years’ experience working with Children of Uganda and is also a graduate of our sponsorship program. She is an accomplished social worker with a diploma in Social Work and Administration, as well as a degree in Development Studies. Rose is currently spearheading the Family Empowerment Program and Village Saving and Loan Association (VSLA) groups. In addition, she is part of the team that organizes character transformation camps for our sponsored children, provides psycho-social support to our guardians and youth, as well as participates in the COU Alumni group that is creating sustainability through saving.
Agnes Peniel Nakintu Kamoga
Finance & Administration Officer
“COU gave me hope when I was hopeless and a future from scrap. When I graduated, I knew I wanted to develop a career within the entity that aided my success and now I am living my dream.”
Agnes is an alumni student of Children of Uganda and a commerce graduate from Makerere University. She worked previously as a loan officer with Premier Credit, Ltd. – a micro-finance institution. Agnes was responsible for client orientation, loan disbursement, collections and recovery of loans. In March of 2017, she began volunteering with Children of Uganda in the Finance and Administration Department. Later that year, she was offered her current position. Her roles include managing staff, accounting and preparation of financial reports and custody of organization assets.
Winnie Nakalembe

A former sponsored student in our program, Winnie has grown both personally and professionally under Children of Uganda’s wing – and we are beyond proud to see her soar! Gorreti Nabalayo Wabuyi
Welfare Assistant
Gorreti fills up the hearts (and stomachs) of all Children of Uganda staff, volunteers and visitors by catering to the welfare of everyone at our main office in Kampala, Uganda. She cooks excellent meals and is also responsible for keeping the office clean and tidy. Gorreti applauds the organization for treating her so well over the years and for including her in motivating staff retreats.
Richard Mulwana
Driver
“Uncle Richard” is known and beloved by all of our beneficiaries and staff alike. He worked as a driver for Daughter’s of Charity from 1983 to 1993 and later joined Children of Uganda. He has been faithfully and responsibly driving staff and visitors – as well as running important errands for the organization – for over 26 years! It is unlikely that there is a route in Uganda that Uncle Richard doesn’t know. His love for the children, most of whom he has watched grow from toddlers to accomplished adults, keeps him going.
Paul Enyagoi
Office Guard
Paul is the first face you’ll see at Children of Uganda’s main office in Kampala, Uganda. He is part of the team that ensures topnotch, 24/7 security of our premises. He has been manning the security of our office for an impressive 12 years! Paul says he cherishes COU because it is due to this job that he is now a homeowner and is also able to send his children to school.

Joseph Ssekyondwa Matovu

“Working with children is a wonderful experience. Waking up every morning believing that you are going to make an impact in a child’s life is one of the sweetest experiences. I can’t thank COU enough for the opportunity given to me to serve the vulnerable children. When l see COU enabling a child who could otherwise not afford good education due to poverty, go to a good school, l get satisfaction.”
With over 10 years of experience in project development and financial resource management, Joseph brings a high level of knowledge and skills to the table. He is currently in charge of coordinating communication and visits with schools, guardians, students and other COU partner service providers in the Kyotera region. Joseph is self-driven, responsive and dedicated to changing the lives of vulnerable populations. “It is so inspiring to see a depressed and neglected child’s hope restored through COU,” explains Joseph. “These children go through a lot; you just have to give them your ears to understand them.”
Resty Nalwadda
Project Assistant
“I am devoted to empowering girls to always stay focused on their studies to achieve a bright future to better their families and communities.”
Resty is also a former Children of Uganda sponsored student who graduated in 2016 following a 3-year course in Electrical Installation. She was granted an opportunity to volunteer after graduating and performed so well she was offered a permanent position at the Kyotera office under the project officer’s supervision. Resty loves working with and counseling children. She is devoted to empowering girls to stay focused on their studies to achieve a brighter future. Resty is looking forward to seeing the lives of more children, women and communities transform.
Annet Nalugo is a graduate of Kyambogo University with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Statistics. She has previously worked with World Vision Buikwe Cluster office as a research assistant, Uganda Bureau of Statistics as an enumerator, ABSA Bank as a lead generator and at Kiwanga Integrated Skills Training Centre as an accounts assistant.
She has previously volunteered at Radio Maria Uganda as an on-air assistant, Mother Kevin Primary School as a teacher and Children of Uganda as a data entry volunteer where her major roles were to present and assist on air, train and teach children, and capture data in the organization database system respectively.
Annet joined Children of Uganda on April 11th, 2022 as an Administrative Assistant volunteer in the Sponsorship and Finance & Administration departments.
