Jane earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and Statistics from Kyambogo University thanks to the support of her loving sponsors, Nathan and Alison Webb. And now, she is using the finance and marketing knowledge she gained at university to run her own business.
After graduating, Jane also attended Baker’s Culinary Institute in Uganda’s capital city of Kampala where she gained skills in baking, pastry arts and cake decorating.
As Jane shares, “I really love baking and making great cakes and I’m very proud of Children of Uganda for making me who I am today. It’s not just about the support and money and all that. It’s the care – the love. Feeling at home. Feeling loved and blessed that keeps you waking up every day with hope.”
Children of Uganda’s team can personally attest to how delicious and beautiful Jane’s cakes truly are! A Janan Baker’s custom cake has been the centerpiece of staff baby showers, as well as several birthday celebrations for staff and students alike.
“Hope is everything…to me, hope is life. If you have hope you can wake up and find a way always and that’s what Children of Uganda has given me. I’m very, very grateful to Children of Uganda and forever – I’ll always – be apart of this family.”
