The aim of Children of Uganda’s mission has always been to make sure the children we sponsor are able to achieve their highest dreams. We had the idea that supporting a child’s education from the beginning all the way through to completing university would be the best way to transform a life. We’re overjoyed to watch these transformations truly blossom.
In 2016, five students: Julius Agaba, Victoria Zalwango, Brenda Nambuubi, Rose, Bob Ssebandeke, — among the first students to be sponsored by Children of Uganda — have graduated from prominent universities in Uganda.
Our immense gratitude goes to the sponsors and everyone who believed in our mission with us and supported our students to make their dreams come true. If it weren’t for their support and generosity, such remarkable academic achievements would not have happened.
It takes an incredible amount of perseverance to complete university in any country, let alone in one with such enormous survival challenges. We’re exceptionally proud of our students who’ve achieved such an outstanding goal.
We’re also thrilled to see that our vision is working: Providing long-term support to Uganda’s children does result in genuine transformational shifts both in their own welfare as well as in their communities. These young men and women have indeed been able to break the cycle of poverty. Our long mission is bearing real fruits.
Julius has graduated with his Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy. Victoria aims to use her diploma as a stepping stone to fight poverty in her country. Bob quickly went on to be hired by prestigious international development firm Heifer International. Read Bob’s story here.
