Ritah Namwiza was sponsored by Children of Uganda (COU) as a young girl and today she is proudly serving on our local Advisory Board in Uganda. We are equally proud of her and her desire to give back!
With a strong foundation in education that COU afforded, Ritah went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Community Psychology from Makerere University and a Masters of Science degree in Africa and International Development from the University of Edinburg MasterCard Scholar’s Programme.
She is a youth advocate, social entrepreneur, international development professional and a 2019 Skoll Forum Emerging Leader. The Emerging Leaders Initiative (in partnership with the Skoll Foundation and The MasterCard Foundation) brings together the next generation of social entrepreneurs from around the world. The Skoll World Forum is the premier international platform for advancing entrepreneurial approaches and solutions to the world’s most pressing problems.
Ritah is also the co-founder of Collage and Development Connection, both e-based platforms that bring development opportunities closer to women and youth. Ritah has supported various initiatives that equip youth with the skills they need to meaningfully contribute to development processes, including the implementation of Agenda 2030 and has worked with the Restless Development BIG IDEA programme, the UNAIDS Special Youth Programme and the Global Campaign to End Child Labour.
“I’m very excited about the work that Children of Uganda does empowering women – particularly to be a part of local economies and making it possible for women to acquire the skills that they need to start and sustainably grow businesses.”
