As the saying goes, ” God will make a way” and indeed he has for me.
I started my journey in the quiet and humble village of Kisenyi-Bukoto Masaka. When my parents passed away, it was the late Sister Rose Muyinza and Children of Uganda who gave me a new life. They helped me maneuver through all the tragedy to regain my smile, happiness and hope for a better day.
While I was in school, I was an academic prefect, sanitary prefect, and the hostel prefect at Kabale Ssanje. At Kako Secondary School, I became president of the Red Cross Kako Link, a branch of Red Cross International, as well as the music director at Kako Catholic Community. As an S6 graduate, I worked at Sabina Primary School as the librarian and dorm father for the bigger boys.
In a special way, I wish to thank my mom (and Children of Uganda sponsor) Jeanne Koenings for her tireless efforts, love and care on my behalf. Not only did she support me through Uganda Christian University, but she has also been the driving force behind my wonderous journey to Israel for a one-year internship.
Ladies and gentlemen, thanks to my sponsor, I am currently working with Hamenora Dairy Farm in “Kiburtz” HaMa`apil in Northern Israel for a hands-on internship until September, 2018. At the end of the course, I will be awarded with a diploma in agriculture studies from Israel’s Rupin University. At the farm, we carry out professional work including: milking on a daily basis following a timetable, assisting cows in giving birth, treating animals such as giving propylene to new mothers, administering antibiotics, assisting doctors during farm operations, feeding animals and cleaning the farm. We usually work 6 days a week and go to school on Sunday for theoretical study.
In my spare time, I have visited holy sites including Nazareth, Jerusalem, Sea of Galilee, Bethlehem, Dead Sea and many others. I wish to thank all of you for the prayers and for your support rendered to Children of Uganda. May God reward you abundantly.
TODA (Thank You),
Mathias Mulumbu Kigozi
