In honor of Mother’s Day, sponsored student Jesca wanted to share with us about her mom and how much she admires her. Jesca’s mother’s name is Maria and she is such a hard-working woman who fends for her children.
In 2018, Maria received Income Generating Activity (IGA) support to grow a banana plantation and now the family no longer lacks food. She is ever in the garden working tirelessly to ensure that her family gets enough food supply and that she has additional bananas to sell for a profit.
Physically abused every single day and with the violence becoming deadly, Maria was forced to leave and find a secure place to stay. When she left, Jesca’s father abandoned the children. Jesca’s older brother took care of her until Maria learned that she could safely return – which she did.
This brought immense joy to Jesca’s heart because she was worried and felt miserable without her mom.
Jesca is proud of all that her mother has overcome and she loves her so much. She is grateful to her mom because she has taken care of them since childhood amidst unimaginable torture from their dad. She says her mother is such a caring, loving and patient lady.
Thank you, Jessica for sharing your heart with us today. We are so proud of both you and your mom!
