AUGUST 31, 2021—Children of Uganda’s performance tour returns after a 7-year hiatus with their upcoming Journey of Light: a Virtual Benefit Boma to empower Ugandan women and children.
The performance will be live-streamed online on November 13th at 4 PM EST. Featuring youth performances and a diverse lineup of international celebrity guests, this one-night-only show is not to be missed!
“The pandemic opened us to the idea of gathering virtually as a global community,” explains Pamela Brannon, Executive Director of Children of Uganda. “Uganda continues to face a humanitarian crisis and our supporters have helped us stand in the gap so that we can continue delivering life-saving services as we have done for over 26 years.”
This virtual gathering is an opportunity for supporters at home to learn about Uganda and East African culture through music, drum and dance, as well as providing an opportunity to make a lasting difference in people’s lives.
Children of Uganda’s performance tour returns at a crucial moment as COVID-19 cases rise again in Uganda. Without the proper aid and systems of support, an entire generation of Ugandan women and their children risk losing the opportunity to develop the skills and confidence needed to lift themselves out of poverty.
“To me, hope is life,” said Jane Nanfuka, an alumni student of COU. “If you have hope you can wake up and find a way always and that’s what Children of Uganda has given me. I’m very, very grateful to Children of Uganda and forever – I’ll always – be part of this family.”
Attendees will watch virtually and discover how investing in female entrepreneurs and sponsoring students through Children of Uganda has transformed vulnerable families and entire communities. Beneficiaries of the program have emerged with the skills, talents, optimism, and energy needed to improve their well-being and lead productive lives.
