Mary is a widow and the sole breadwinner of her family, but she struggles with very poor health. She requires monthly medications and doctors have advised that she be on a daily balanced diet; however, due to rising inflation and no reliable source of income she is sometimes only able to drink watered down tea.
This leaves her often weak, dizzy and unable to tend to her children or garden.
Her daughter, Margaret, joined Children of Uganda in 2012 when she was in P.2. Margaret worries constantly about her mother’s health and it affects her studies.
Kyotera Project Officer, Joseph Ssekyondwa Matovu, and Project Assistant, Resty Nalwadda, keep in close contact with Mary and whenever possible with emergency funds deliver aid to the family. Recently, Resty and Joseph visited Mary at home:
